Critchley Hall Solicitors Come To Swaledale

We are pleased to be able to offer our legal services to the residents of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale at the Hudson House Rural Resource and Enterprise Centre in Anvil Square Reeth which is at the top of Reeth’s village green in Swaledale.

Please telephone us for an appointment on 01969 625 526; we shall do our best to fit in with you.

Hudson House opened its doors on the 24th day of January 2003 to afford access for local people to a diverse range of amenities which would otherwise not be available because of the remoteness of the two dales. For the first time this will include access to the law.

We offer a wide range of legal services but there are a number of current issues which will be of particular interest to the residents of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale:

The Registration of the Title to Property at the Land Registry

We have a separate news item on this but it is of particular relevance to Swaledale and Arkengarthdale. Ownership of properties in the two dales may not change as regularly as in other areas of the country which means that the existing title deeds may use plans which are out of date and may not contain detailed accounts of the rights of way and other rights which benefit the property. There will be few other legal practitioners who are as familiar with the two dales’ 3000 year leases and copyhold titles and know how best to register them at the Land Registry.

Common Land and the Ownership of Gaits

These are being scrutinized ever more closely by DEFRA and it is important that the owners of gaits continue to protect their title. Again this is an area in which we have particular skill and expertise.
